December 2004 – Cozy Creativity Builds the Circle of Trust
Overview:
December brings the warmth of the winter hearth into the spirit. While November was marked by the download of exuberant joy, December brings a grounding and integration of these energies into a restful creative phase. For some, this will call for more time alone in creative pursuit, while others will find comfort in a small group of friends. The energies of this month are not favoring huge bashes and raucous parties, although that may be society’s pull. So take time with your closest heart-friends this month, and don’t force yourself to be among the throngs unless you want to be.
Energy of the Month:
December’s energy of comfort and creativity hold the warm camaraderie of the traditional quilting circle. Do you already have a close-knit small group of friends you connect with in this way? Where does your creativity find its outlet? December’s energies have the potential to support the formation of a new close group of friends for yourself, or to reconnect with a few friends you enjoy right now. Friendship groups come and go, change shape and number. But focus on the Now in choosing who to be with during this sacred time. Your prize will be a renewed sense of your own unique talents and worth, and a feeling of belonging in relationship to others.
What to Expect:
You may feel the demands of the social holiday season weighing on you. Choose your commitments according to what feeds your soul, and not just your belly. You may feel more inclined to intimate gatherings this month, as opposed to the huge celebrations. You may feel inclined to spend some time alone, like a hermit, with a good book under the warm covers. Honor your self!
What to Do:
If you feel you need alone time – TAKE it. Don’t push yourself into getting the flu just so you can have your alone time!
Only commit to events and parties that you WANT to go to. Sounds simple, but it’s not always easy!
Create something with your hands. This season necessitates some creative expression whether it’s sewing, drawing, building, or wrapping a handsome gift. Honor the creative process in yourself and allow yourself non-critical free-expression.
Reconnect with those people around you who truly honor your Authentic Self – your True Identity – your unique path. Recognize who is your current spiritual family (or your “spamily” as I like to call it) and remember that your family stretches much farther than your bloodline!
